Shareeka Epps

Shareeka Epps is a young American actress born in Brooklyn, New York on July 11 of 1989. She has been active on the movie industry since 2004. She attended William Alexander 51 Junior High School in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood. She was always active in her Junior high school years into music and dance. She had performed in her early teens for school productions as “Annie” and “West Side Story”.

While the time Shareeka was in Junior high school she was recommended by her Drama teacher to aspiring film makers Anna Roden and Ryan Fleck. She was requested to audition for their 19 minutes short film named “Gowanus, Brooklyn” on 2004. Epps had audition with several other teenagers for the role on the movie. She had led the role of Drey for the movie. This short movie was shot on digital video for a cost of $1000.00. This movie won the Grand Jury Prize for short film making at the Sundance Film Festival on 2004.

By the year 2006 the film makers Roden and Fleck were financially ready for a new feature of “Gowanus, Brooklyn”. They had contacted Shareeka Epps about reprising her role as Drey on the now re titled movie “Half Nelson”. She had accepted the role of Drey for the movie Half Nelson alongside Ryan Goslin (Dan Dunne). Drey (Shareeka Epps) is a student of a Brooklyn Junior School and a player for the girls basketball team. She comes from divorced parents were she never met her father. Drey's brother Mike (Collins Pennie) is in prison for drug dealing. Dan Dunne (Ryan Goslin) is Drey's History teacher and coach of her basketball team. Dan is a cocaine addict. Drey had caught Dan using this illegal drug on the girls locker room after a game. After that they became friends and try to help each other.

Shareeka had maintained focus on her academics and entered Binghamton High School in New York. After finishing her high school she had entered Broone Community College. Epps had won several awards for the movie Half Nelson.
